University of North Texas Shoplifting or theft, offenders'immature or mature emotional responses to shoplifting, and moral predictors of global self-esteem were explored. Phase 1 classified moral emotions by shoplifting situations. Phase 2 predicted effects of moral situations on moral emotions and moral self and their overall effect on global self-esteem. Implications address moral education and shoplifting.
